I Collaborated With Kofi Kinaata To Learn From Him- Okyeame Kwame
Despite Okyame Kwame’s extensive experience in the industry and versatility, he recently shared in an interview that he intentionally collaborated with Kofi Kinaata to gain insight into his songwriting skills.
The veteran rapper, who was previously part of the rap duo Akyeame, explained on Onua TV that he felt a sense of competition after Kofi Kinaata won the TGMA Songwriter of the Year award three times in a row.
Okyame Kwame highlighted that before Kofi Kinaata’s wins, he was the only artist to have achieved back-to-back wins on two separate occasions.
Feeling challenged by his younger counterpart, he decided to work together with him in order to expand his own knowledge and abilities.
“After beating me, I was a little bit pained and hurt so I decided to do a recording with him to witness how he records in order to learn and understand what he does.”
He continued, “so we started talking that we will do a song together for almost 3 to 4 years and we were still discussing it as to when this would finally happen.
“So last year we decided to do the recording and so I sent him a beat with my vocals on it and after listening, Kofi Kinaata told me it wasn’t good or nice.”
