Nobody Has Contacted Me – Okyeame Kwame Reacts To Bawumia Appointment

Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has clarified that he has not been officially contacted regarding his purported appointment to the Manifesto Committee of Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, denying any political affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a press release dated February 24, 2024, Okyeame Kwame emphasized that he has not received any communication from H.E. The Vice President’s campaign team regarding his alleged role on the committee for the arts and tourism manifesto.

“I wish to reassure my respected following and reiterate that I remain non-partisan and apolitical, as I have been throughout my entire career. I have not been paid by H.E. The Vice President’s campaign team to be a member of the committee for the arts and tourism manifesto, nor have I officially been invited on my terms as a non-partisan participant.

“Indeed, when it comes to contributing policy opinion towards the advancement of the Arts and Culture in Ghana, I am respectfully open to all political or ideological persuasions, be they NPP, NDC, CPP, Independent, or other, that may want me to openly and sincerely lend my knowledge to develop this noble industry,” he stated.

The ‘Made in Ghana’ hitmaker expressed openness to contributing to policy discussions on arts and culture regardless of political affiliation.

“I am respectfully open to all political or ideological persuasions that may want me to lend my knowledge to develop this noble industry,” he stated.

Despite the lack of official communication, Okyeame Kwame extended gratitude to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia for considering his experience, demonstrating humility in acknowledging the trust placed in him.

Okyeame Kwame is reportedly among the fifteen individuals named as potential members of the New Patriotic Party’s Manifesto Committee for tourism, arts, and culture.

The committee, chaired by Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante and Akwasi Agyemang, includes notable figures such as former minister Catherine Abelema Afeku, Dr. Ama Boafo-Arthur, Claudia Lumor, Prince David Osei, and others.
