I Don’t Want To Become Chronic Liar- Kofi Kinaata On Why He Won’t Join Politics

Kofi Kinaata explained his decision to steer clear of politics and avoid aligning with any political party during a recent interview.

He expressed his reluctance to engage in dishonesty and manipulation, common practices in the political sphere.

Kinaata firmly believes that the public prefers honesty, making it challenging for someone like him to succeed in an election.

This viewpoint was shared during a conversation with Lily Mohammed of GHOne fame.

“I cannot venture into politics. In politics, if something is blue they will say it is green so I can’t. If you tell the truth the people will not vote for you so I won’t even try it,” he told Gh One’s Lily Mohammed.

On whether he has been approached by political parties he said “Yes a number of them but I will not want to talk about it. I’m friends with Cheddar and all the other politicians in the country but I don’t support any of them. We will look at policies and programmes and follow those we think are feasible”.

Kofi Kinaata further indicated that “over the years, we have been sweet talked to by politicians in this country but nothing happens and there is no change.

For me, I’ve given up and the people are making things difficult so we cannot address issues because someone thinks he is party A so whatever you’re saying goes against party A so don’t say. He is party B so even if he’s dying…People tend to love their party than the country and so everything is in a mess,” he said.

In other news involving Kofi Kinaata, the singer made headlines recently when he claimed that some people think one needs to be able to speak Jamaican patois to perform reggae music.

The Ghanaian musician who distinctively sings in his native Fante language remarked that despite leaving out the basic patois from his new song, Effiakuma Love, he is confident that his audience will still find it compelling.

He replied, “A number of factors, especially when you pay close attention to the lyrics and vibes I used in the song, prompted me to do Effiakuma Love.

“Some people think that you have to be able to speak the Jamaican patois or a certain language before you can do reggae but I sung in Fante on a reggae beat,” Kinaata told Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast-based Property FM.

He added, “Singing in the local dialect on a reggae beat has made a lot of people relate more to Effiakuma Love song and besides I was talking about a love message.

“There are so many aspects of love but I chose a certain part to highlight on a girl who is outspoken and able to explain herself but people misconstrue her confidence for arrogance,” he concluded.
