I Will Vote For NDC In 2024 – ‘NPP Supporter’ KOD Declares

Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), one of the top celebrities who campaigned for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and helped them wrestle power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016, has stated that he will not vote for the NPP again.

The acclaimed broadcast journalist, who commenced his career with Accra-based radio station, Radio Gold, disclosed that the nation under the leadership of Nana Akufo Addo has regressed significantly, prompting him to pledge his support for John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming general elections slated for 2024.

He expressed his disillusionment with the NPP for their inability to fulfill their commitments. These remarks were made during the ‘Big Interview’ segment with host Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s morning show on Wednesday.

As per his statement, the former president and flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, possesses commendable qualities and has the potential to bring about a positive change in Ghana’s economy. Furthermore, the broadcaster said he expressed his support for the NPP with the hope of witnessing a prosperous Ghana under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo but unfortunately, it did not materialize.

While acknowledging the NPP government’s introduction of the free SHS policy, he believes that the execution of the policy was flawed due to the government’s inability to compensate the caterers adequately. In addition, the fashion designer opines that the Akufo-Addo-led government could have performed better.

“I think Mahama was an amazing and wonderful president. He did amazingly well for this country, but when he lost the election and Nana Akufo-Addo became president, I thought, well, Nana has been trying for all these years.

“If he had never become president, it would have been like the best man we never had, and especially now that the narrative we hear is that the next person is going to do what I was not able to finish; no, that’s not Nana Akufo-Addo.”

Asked if he was disappointed by the president’s failure, he said, “I am. I’m highly disappointed.”

Again, when he was asked, ‘So come 2024, will you still vote for the NPP?’ He answered “No”.

Asked about the NDC, he said “Yes”.
