Jamaicans Will Be Laughing- Sister Derby Reacts To Condemnation Of Lady In Omah Lay Saga
Sister Derby has made it clear on X (formerly Twitter) that Jessani, the girl who gained internet fame for her provocative dance with Nigerian artiste Omah Lay during his London concert, should not have apologized.
Sister Derby, a strong advocate for feminism, believes that Jessani did nothing wrong by attending a concert and enjoying herself on stage with the artist of the day.
She further argues that since the lady in question is not married to her boyfriend, there is no reason for people to criticize her for simply having a fun moment without any intimacy involved.
According to Sister Derby, in Jamaica, such incidents are common, and their typical reaction would be to find it amusing when they hear about this issue. This is what she wrote:
E pain me waaa say the Omah Lay concert girl come out to explain. Kai. Dancing k3k3. Youngins, not married, but taking this thing World Cup. Simple entertainment. Jamaicans will be laughing. Boys will cheat publicly and not ever dare apologise publicly. The girl do yawa by apologising in my opinion.
Derby made this statement after Jessani came out to apologise for the role she played in the viral content that monopolised the grapevine a few days ago.
According to her, although she had planned to join him on stage, she never anticipated that the situation would escalate to this extent and now deeply regrets her actions.
The exotic-looking young lady addressed the rumours surrounding her boyfriend purchasing the ticket, clarifying that she bought it herself to have an enjoyable experience together.
Jes emphasized that she had discussed her plans with her boyfriend before attending the show.
“Obviously, we have had private conversations, but since it was public, I think the right thing to do is apologize in public. That was bad, it was honestly a mistake. If I knew this would have gotten this far, I wouldn’t have gone to the concert,” she said in a video
“Me and him, we’ve had private conversations going in stage. If you know Omah Lay you would know that is what he does on stage. So we spoke about me going on stage if I’m called and he had no problems with it.”
