John Dumelo Demands Immediate Action From Police Over Recent Armed Robbery Activities On Legon-UPSA Road

John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon has earnestly requested the police to promptly initiate security patrols along the UPSA-Legon Business School stretch during nighttime hours.

He emphasized the alarming frequency of attacks that students have been subjected to by armed robbers, with some unfortunate incidents resulting in loss of life.

In light of these distressing circumstances, he implored the security forces to extend their protective services to this area and urged the police to swiftly respond to his plea.

He posted:

Dear @GhPoliceService , please we need immediate security patrol on the Upsa-Legon Business school stretch at night. Every evening, students are attacked, robbed and even killed by armed robbers on that stretch whiles walking to their hostels from lectures. Hope to get a favorable response. Thanks so much. #studentslivesmatter #idey4u

Dumelo’s recent post follows a tragic incident that occurred a few weeks ago, where a Master’s student from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) lost his life in an attack by unidentified armed robbers along the Madina-Legon road, which connects to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

The unfortunate victim, Dennis Twumasi Ankrah, was returning from class at approximately 9:00 pm when he was allegedly assaulted by the robbers who operate in the UPSA-UGBS vicinity. Reports indicate that the situation escalated when Dennis, in an attempt to defend himself, was forcefully pushed into an oncoming vehicle, resulting in his tragic demise.

This incident has sparked a significant discussion among students and the public regarding the safety risks associated with travelling on this particular route, particularly during nighttime.

Concerns have also been raised regarding the lack of adequate security measures in the area, including the absence of street lights, traffic lights, and security personnel.
