Jordan Ayew Is One Of The Most Selfless Players Ever- Peter Drury

Ace sports commentator Peter Drury has reserved special praise for Ghana’s Jordan Ayew over his consistent work rate for his team, Crystal Place.

During the match between Crystal Palace and Arsenal, the Premier League commentator expressed admiration for the performance of Jordan Ayew, the Ghanaian forward.

Ayew demonstrated his diligent and dedicated approach to the game, making a significant contribution to the Eagles’ efforts, despite their unfortunate defeat. “One of the most selfless players you are likely to see. Wears a number nine but no way glory hunter,” Drury remarked.

Notably, Ayew played a pivotal role in securing a numerical advantage for Palace, drawing a foul from Arsenal’s Takehiro Tomiyasu, which resulted in the latter’s dismissal from the field. Drury’s commentary reflected his appreciation for Ayew’s selflessness and team-oriented mindset, which stood out despite his position as a number nine forward, typically associated with goal-scoring.

In August 2018, on the day of the transfer deadline, Ayew was enlisted by Crystal Palace on loan for the 2018-19 season. He made his debut on September 1, 2018, in Palace’s 2-0 defeat to Southampton. On September 15, he exhibited an impressive performance against Huddersfield, providing the assist to Wilfried Zaha’s goal, thereby securing a 1-0 victory for Palace.

Ayew was lauded for his pressing and hold-up play, which facilitated the involvement of other players and provided the other attackers with opportunities to create chances.

On January 2, 2019, Ayew scored his first league goal for Palace, opening the scoring in their 2-0 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Three days later, Ayew was brought on in the 68th minute for Jairo Riedewald and scored a late winner (in the 86th minute) against Grimsby Town in the FA Cup.

Similarly, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola reserved special praises for Jordan Ayew after his side had the edge over Ayew’s Crystal Palace side during their clash in the English Premier League.

Erling Haaland scored a second-half penalty to keep the pressure on league leaders Arsenal as City left Selhurst Park with a 1-0 win.

Obviously thrilled by the opposition offered by Crystal Palace and the input of Jordan Ayew and Zaha, Guardiola reckons they are incredible players. He acknowledged Ayew’s pace and the plenty of problems he created against his team as Man City do everything to topple Arsenal from the summit of the league.

“It is always tricky playing here [Selhurst Park]. We are always confident playing at home but I always have this belief that it is always tricky here,” the Manchester City boss told Sky Sports.

“The way they play and run is just incredible. Jordan Ayew and Zaha are incredible players. They are always running and creating spaces for the team.”

Despite netting only one goal in the ongoing campaign, Ayew has been doing well for his team to stay afloat and remain in the league for next season.
