John Dramani Mahama strongly responded to remarks made about him by Nana Akufo-Addo with a forceful reply that has surfaced on various social media platforms.
Recall that Nana Akufo-Addo recently urged Ghanaians not to support opposition leader John Dramani Mahama, warning that his leadership would only bring harm to the country. He stated that voting for Mahama would reverse the progress made under his own administration and put the nation’s future at risk.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters at a gathering in Doboro, President Akufo-Addo reiterated his support for Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as the ideal candidate for the upcoming presidential election.
“This is our election year and the limited registration has started. Anybody who hasn’t registered and is eligible should go and register. This is because your right to vote is your power.
“Also, when the time is up for the voting, our job is simple. The person I defeated and my work since I took over, seems not to please him, I cannot hand over power to such a person. He will destroy whatever we have done when he comes.”
He added “I am pleading with you to vote for the person I have worked with for the past seven and half years. I have faith in him and I know that he will come and continue the work I have begun as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”
In his response, Mahama emphasized that he is unable to safeguard Akufo-Addo’s legacy due to its lackluster nature. He pointed out that Akufo-Addo’s tenure is predominantly associated with corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, a struggling economy, rising unemployment, and exacerbating poverty levels. Mahama firmly stated that he cannot align himself with such circumstances.
Mr Mahama in a post on his X platform stated “Of course, I will not protect your ‘legacy’ of corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and pushing more of our people into the poverty bracket.”
