A 27-year-old woman has been butchered to death by her husband who allegedly accused her of cheating on him.
Police are pursuing 30 -year-old commercial driver, Michael Abeiku, for committing the heinous crime against Gifty Tetteh.
The incident occurred in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
Relatives of the deceased say the suspect threatened to commit the offense some months ago before now after accusing his wife of infidelity.
According to them, following an argument over the cheating allegations, the woman moved to her mother’s place for some months.
It was after her return to the house that the husband inflicted deep machete wounds on her limbs, neck, breast, and knees. She bled profusely and died before police arrived.
An uncle of the deceased, Ebenezer Boadi told the media police investigations have commenced into the case. Meanwhile, the suspect is currently on the run.
“It’s a very sad situation, they have an unresolved issue. The husband a few months ago threatened to kill my niece for allegedly cheating on him after a man called her on phone. The husband later called the man back and the two exchanged words.
My niece who was scared of her life, sought divorce, but the man begged me to settle the matter. So, we were in the process of doing that and he just killed my niece. The police came to the house to take some pictures and videos,” Mr. Boadi narrated.
The couple’s children have now been moved to live with their grandmother.
