Maybe I Will Marry A Ghanaian- Basketmouth

In an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM prior to his comedy show scheduled for the Accra Conference Centre on April 8, 2023, Basketmouth said he could possibly get married to a Ghanaian.

Remember that on December 22, 2022, Basketmouth announced openly that he and his wife, Elsie Uzoma Okpocha, were divorcing in a now-deleted popular Instagram post.

Announcing the end of his 12-year marriage, he said “for the first and the last time as much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation.

“After much deliberation, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage. As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance and support they need,” he said.

Days after he arrived in Ghana to promote his new standup comedy dubbed ‘Basketmouth Unprovoked’ the veteran entertainer has been interviewed by some notable media houses in Ghana.

When he spoke to seasoned on-air personality Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, he declared that he is single and could probably marry a Ghanaian, albeit he said he’ll give himself some time before jumping into a new relationship following his separation from Elsie.

He also revealed how he has fallen in love with the Twi language- which happens to be Ghana’s most widely spoken language.

Twi is an amazing language, I am going to learn more. On my way here, I said to myself, wouldn’t it be cool to learn the language and come stay here for like a year? You know, just chill, get married to a Ghana woman and stuff. I am single but you know I am just kidding. I am not ready to jump into anything just yet…maybe am not kidding, who knows.
