NPP Primaries: Accept Election Result- Bawumia, Ken Agyapong, Others Told

The four candidates vying for the presidential nomination of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary on Saturday have pledged their commitment to abide by the election results.

This agreement was reached during a meeting between the National Council of Elders and the candidates. Following the meeting, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua, announced during a press briefing that the candidates have also agreed to prioritize the party’s interests and accept the outcome of the primary.

Additionally, the candidates have committed to ensuring the implementation of party-established mechanisms and adhering to the designated timelines until the results are officially declared. They have also expressed their willingness to respect the decision made by the party’s delegates.

“We were able to get all the four aspirants to sign an undertaking and in summary, they are to accept the primary results, and promote peace and cohesion,” Mr Kodua said.

“If they don’t win, they will not resign from the party and, support the winner of the primary.”

As reported by Tru News Report previously, Kennedy Agyapong made a serious allegation, claiming that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and his campaign team attempted to bribe him with an offer of him become Dr. Bawumia’s running mate.

The Assin Central MP made these allegations during his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, where he addressed his supporters at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi. Mr Agyapong firmly rejected the offer and expressed his concerns about Dr Bawumia’s actions and other activities, which he believes could potentially harm the party.

He further emphasized that the Vice President and his team were resorting to intimidation tactics against party members who did not support him.
The Ashanti region witnessed a significant show of support for Kennedy Agyapong, as a large number of residents took to the streets of Kumasi to express their solidarity with him.

To substantiate his propaganda against Bawumia who comes up against him on November 4, 2023, in the NPP flagbearership elections, Kennedy Agaypong stated that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stands no chance against John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 elections.

Sounding very furious during a recent radio interview on Kings Radio, a US-based media outlet, on September 24, 2023, the aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) put forth an allegation suggesting that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has made commitments to assign the vice presidential position to seven Members of Parliament from the Ashanti Region.

Mr Agyapong further expressed his concern that if Dr Bawumia were to assume the role of the party’s flagbearer, it could potentially result in the NPP being relegated to the opposition. He argued that even in the event of a victory, Dr Bawumia would be unable to surpass the popularity and influence of Mahama.

“What they are doing in the Ashanti Region has intimidated 47 MPs, all because of one vice president position. They have promised seven of the Ashanti regional MPs for the vice president’s slots, and they are pushing everybody because they want the vice president position,” Agyapong said.
