The Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Francis Asenso-Boakye has been retained as the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate.

Asenso-Boakye who doubles as the Minister for Works and Housing, defeated lawyer Ralph Agyepong in the NPP’s Saturday, January 27, 2024, parliamentary primaries to retain his ticket by gaining 78.22% of the total votes cast.
Ahead of the election, political watchers had anticipated a stiff competition in Bantama.

Ralph Agyepong had received endorsement and support from his brother, Kennedy Agyapong who contested the recent flagbearer election in the NPP.
Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament for Assin Central had urged delegates of the party to vote against Asenso-Boakye accusing of being incompetent.
