In a surprising upset, Mike Oquaye Jnr has emerged victorious over Sarah Adwoa Safo in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary elections for the Dome-Kwabenya constituency.

The primary, conducted on Saturday, January 27, witnessed Mike Oquaye Jnr securing a significant 1,194 votes, surpassing Adwoa Safo to become the NPP parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya.

This outcome signals a notable shift in the political dynamics within the constituency.

Notably, in the previous parliamentary election, Oquaye Jnr lost to Adwoa Safo by eight votes.

The NPP primary in Dome-Kwabenya drew attention due to the prominence of Adwoa Safo who had been accused of abandoning her duties to stay in America for months, and the competitive race between two well-known candidates.
