R. Kelly Claims He Is ‘Scared For His Life’ In Chicago Prison

A recording has surfaced of disgraced singer R. Kelly, who is presently serving a 30-year sentence for sex crime charges, claiming that he is “scared for his life” in a Chicago prison.

On Monday (June 19), RapHouseTV uploaded audio to their various social media pages, reporting that R. Kelly, full name Robert Kelly, recently expressed concerns from behind bars in a Chicago prison. Currently, Kelly is serving a 30-year prison sentence in his hometown after being found guilty of sex trafficking.

Kelly claimed that animals receive better treatment than he has been afforded while sitting inside Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Kelly claims in the audio that he “almost died” after medical personnel allegedly ignored blood clots in his legs.

Kelly insisted that he doesn’t “deserve to die” by these means, and that “somebody miscommunicated or somebody took a guess” at what was really happening with his legs.

A fellow inmate reportedly recorded and shared the audio with the media. Kelly’s solicitors have not commented on the recording’s authenticity.

He stated unequivocally that, “If I spend the rest of my life in prison, I want to die from natural causes. And I deserve that. I don’t deserve to die because somebody miscommunicated or somebody took a guess at what’s going on with my leg. I’m not supposed to die that way. You’re not even supposed to take a chance on that.”

“‘Cause if it was your child, or if it was your father, or if it was your mother, somebody you loved, you would’ve said, ‘Go to the doctor. We need to get that checked out. We need to look at that. We need to x-ray that.’ They didn’t even x-ray me. And that’s why I’m speaking out on this, because I’m scared for my life in that area. And who wouldn’t be? Who wouldn’t be? They treat animals better than that,” Kelly added.

This is not the first time Kelly has expressed concern for his life while incarcerated. Kelly stated in a previous interview that he was “terrified for his life” during his time in prison.

Back in March, his lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, blasted the facility and their team for being negligent and lacking care for Kelly and other inmates. Bonjean called it unacceptable.

At the time she told ABC7, “It’s not just because it’s R. Kelly. Every prison deserves medical attention, medical care. The MCC is required to address these things in a competent fashion.”
