Sam Smith & Kim Petras’ “Unholy” Grammy Performance Sparks Outrage, FCC Complaints

Numerous viewers have filed complaints with CBS and the FCC regarding Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy” Grammys performance.

According to TMZ, eighteen complaints have been filed with the Federal Communications Commission, and all of them have something to do with Satan.

Many argued that the performance was a textbook example of demon worship and were shocked by the picture presented on television, with one person adding, “I will be terminating my television service as a result.” Seems a little overboard.

Some individuals deemed the performance to be anti-Christian. One observer speculated that the song could “increase violence against Christians.” Some found the BDSM and adult imagery offensive.

And also… “It featured DEVIL-WORSHIPING ACOLYTES writhing on the floor nearly naked and incarcerated. It was aired live on television, and I cannot believe CBS permitted it.”

One parent was incensed, “The performance of Sam Smith had people being whipped and in a cage. My 15 year old son who is an aspiring musician was traumatized by it.”

The song was released on 22nd September 2022 as the second single from Smith’s fourth studio album Gloria (2023).

Smith’s fourth album, “Gloria,” debuted on Jan. 27. In addition to “Unholy,” the album features the songs “Love Me More,” “Gimme,” and “I’m Not Here to Make Friends.”

“Unholy” entered at the top of the UK Singles Chart.

“Unholy” also won the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, making Kim Petras, the German singer, and songwriter, the first transgender woman to win that award.
