Sandra Ababio: Meet The Ace Ghanaian Actress Who Spends GHC10,000 On A Wig

The actress, who was rumoured to be in a steamy relationship with actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, aka Lil Win, told Delay that as a celebrity, she has come to accept that criticism is part of the job, hence she is not bothered by unsubstantiated speculations that have encircled her brand over the years.

She made this assertion when she answered rumours that she uses expensive body lotions and creams for her skin which has sustained her body complexion. Deloris Frimpong Manso, the host of the Delay Show, then pushed her to the wall and asked her to disclose the amount of money that goes into the creams she buys, including the wig she uses.

With much reluctance, she disclosed that her wig costs ₵10,000 to which Delay expressed much surprise.

During the same program, Sandra shared her inspiring rags-to-riches story, recounting her humble beginnings in abject poverty. Her family struggled to make ends meet, with her father lacking a stable job and her mother working as a petty trader to provide for their four children.

Sandra vividly described the constant moving from one home to another, and the only decent dwelling they eventually secured after years of hardship was a single room with a small porch. She explained how the porch served as a makeshift stall for their wares and, at times, as their sleeping quarters. To supplement the family’s income, Sandra sold various groceries, earning her the nickname “queen mother of tomatoes.”

She tearfully recounted the misery they endured during rainy seasons when their roof leaked heavily. At one point, they had to live in a wooden structure, sleeping on benches or the cold, bare floor.

Despite facing daunting challenges during her formative years, Sandra persevered and went on to become a successful actress and TV host, thanks to the recommendation of thespians Delay and actor Kwadwo Nkansah (Lilwin).
