Selena Gomez Responds to Body-Shaming Comments After 2023 Golden Globes Appearance

Selena Gomez appeared to laugh in response to her internet critiques.

Tuesday, after attending the 2023 Golden Globes, the Only Murders in the Building actress reportedly got online remarks questioning her physical looks while posing for the cameras.

Gomez, 30, arrived at the Beverly Hills Hotel in a show-stopping velvet column gown with a high slit and striking puff sleeves with a long train after being nominated for outstanding performance by an actress in a television series, comedy or musical for her role as Mabel Mora in the Hulu series.

Although she did not get an award for the category, the singer may have won the internet by allegedly replying to those who expressed negative remarks about her figure after images and videos from the event were posted online.

Gomez addressed the criticism while conversing with her 9-year-old sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey, in an Instagram Live video that was captured and then published by popnewsdaily on TikTok.

She informed her followers, I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays,” she told her followers before turning her head to Gracie, asking for her opinion, “right?”

After Gracie looked to concur with the singer, Gomez subsequently began to laugh out loud.

Gomez, who has had a tumultuous relationship with social media for years and even erased it from her phone in 2019, hinted her return to Instagram earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Gomez suggested that she had returned to the app by posting three bathroom pictures taken with her own phone, which included a purple butterfly-patterned cover.

She captioned the photo, “Wait can you tell I’m back on Instagram ?”

In recent weeks, the celebrity has posted an increasing number of intimate photos, offering her 369 million followers a view into her inner circle.

After taking several Instagram breaks over the years, Gomez revealed in 2019 that she no longer had the app, as negative comments on her posts had left her feeling “depressed.”
