Sing-A-Thon: Ebony’s Spirit Came To Help Us— Afua Asantewaa’s Brother Claims

Afua Asantewaa’s brother has firmly stated that the late Ebony Reigns’ spirit was present at Akwaaba Village to enhance her performance during her sing-a-thon journey.

Just hours before Afua surpassed the remarkable 105-hour mark, she included Ebony’s songs in her repertoire of over 300 songs for her project. The proclamation of Afua’s brother on how the spirit of Ebony helped Afua achieve her objective has succeeded in adding a new discourse surrounding Afua as far as entertainment in Ghana is concerned.

Afua’s brother mentioned that, remarkably, when Afua started singing one of Ebony’s songs, a peculiar incident occurred: the back door unexpectedly swung open. Despite her brother’s efforts to close it, Afua insisted that it remain open, believing that Ebony had come to visit her. To everyone’s astonishment, this extraordinary occurrence happened not once, but twice, leaving them all completely speechless.

“I was about to close the door when she was like no bro do not close it Ebony is here, it happened twice when she was singing Ebony’s songs,” he told Joy Prime.

Furthermore, Ebony’s father, in an interview with Fiifi Pratt, further supported this belief. Mr. Kwarteng revealed that Afua Asantewaa Aduonum is a big fan of his late daughter, Ebony Reigns, who tragically passed away in 2018. He mentioned a recent media appearance where Afua tearfully expressed her love for Ebony Reigns and how the immensely talented singer had always been an inspiration to her.

As it stands now, Afua Asantewaa has surpassed the previous record holder by breaking the longest singing marathon by an individual by clocking 126 hours and 52 minutes. This remarkable achievement was accomplished through a five-day event that commenced precisely at midnight on Sunday, December 24th and concluded on December 29th, 2023.

Afua views this as a wonderful opportunity to showcase exceptional Ghanaian music to the world. She has committed to exclusively performing local music throughout her record-breaking attempt.

The event garnered immense support from thousands of music enthusiasts and well-wishers, including mainstream celebrities in Ghana, who gathered at Akwaaba Village to show solidarity and witness this historic moment. As part of the evidence, Miss Asantewaa mentioned that she is required to document all her practice sessions, preparations, and interviews, which will be included in the final video of her attempt.

During the attempt itself, Afua clarified that she is allowed to sit, stand, or lie down as long as she continues singing; the position does not matter. However, unlike typical music performances, she is not permitted to jam or hum along to the songs, and there will be no drumming. Nevertheless, she can engage in conversation between songs.

Overall, Afua Asantewaa’s record-breaking endeavour has not only captivated the attention of music enthusiasts but has also provided a platform to promote Ghanaian music on a global scale.
