Stonebwoy seized the opportunity to connect and interact with renowned artistes from across the globe at the 2024 Island Music Conference. The Ghanaian music sensation is performing at this year’s event alongside Shaggy, Teejay, and other prominent musicians worldwide.

During the event, Stonebwoy spotted Spice and approached her with a warm hug. Spice reciprocated the gesture and expressed her delight in seeing him. The two artistes engaged in a lively conversation, with Stonebwoy even switching to a patois rhythm to impress Spice.

The Island Music Conference serves as a yearly gathering for artists, managers, producers, labels, publishers, distributors, DSPs, rights-collecting societies, media, communication agencies, booking agencies, promoters, producers, directors, and influencers.

Spice, also known as the Queen of Dancehall, is widely recognized as one of the most influential dancehall artists globally. Her distinctive style is characterized by her aggressive flow, musical versatility, and bold lyrics. Spice initially gained prominence after her captivating performance at the renowned dancehall festival Sting in 2000. In 2003, she made her mark in the industry with the release of her debut single “Complain” under the esteemed Madhouse Records, helmed by record producer Dave Kelly.

Continuing her musical journey, Spice went on to release notable singles such as “Right There” and “Hype,” collaborating with esteemed artists like Jimmy Cliff and Beenie Man in 2004 and 2006, respectively.

However, it was in 2009 that Spice achieved her first major breakthrough with the controversial hit single “Romping Shop,” featuring Vybz Kartel. This success led her to sign with VP Records and release her debut EP, titled “So Mi Like It,” in 2014, which was preceded by the release of the eponymous single.

Spice’s talent and impact were further acknowledged when she became the first female dancehall artist to receive a nomination for Best Reggae Act at the prestigious 2016 MOBO Awards.

Additionally, she stood as the sole female nominee in the category, solidifying her status as a trailblazer in the genre. In her pursuit of international recognition, Spice also appeared as a regular cast member on VH1’s reality television series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, showcasing her relentless dedication to elevating her music career to a global level.
