Stop Taking Sides- Shatta Wale Warns Industry Players Who Rate Sarkodie, Stonebwoy Above Him

Shatta Wale has warned industry players against rating his colleagues, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, ahead of him, saying that tendency has become the bane of retrogression as far as Ghanaian Music is concerned.

Shatta Wale highlighted that there was favouritism and a selective spotlight on some artists in the industry when speaking in an interview on Empire FM. He continued by saying that, despite their own fair share of contentious moments, the music industry is unfair in elevating artists like Stonebwoy and Sarkodie as the finest.

“If you want to do favouritism and take sides, you support Stonebwoy and Sarkodie and say they are the best, they will keep disgracing us. How can you make a statement like imagine Shatta Wale with a diplomatic passport?” he queried.

Highlighting the apparent double standards, Shatta Wale went on to juxtapose the scrutiny he faces with examples from his contemporaries.

“I can also say imagine Stonebwoy who has pulled a gun on stage. Imagine Sarkodie who has done an abortion with a woman and recorded a diss track for her afterwards. What will you say about it? Nobody is perfect in this world,” he pointedly remarked.

made it clear that no one is exempt from imperfection and urged the industry to focus on the business of music rather than personal controversies.

“We just have to stop playing around with this business because it is business,” he added.

He made the comment in reaction to a comment made by on-air personality, Ola Michael, who unequivocally stated that someone like Shatta Wale deserves no diplomatic passport, as espoused by former French ambassador Anne Sophie Avé.

The radio personality and former filmmaker went berserk and cast a slur on the honcho of the SM fraternity, saying his brand is too unattractive to deserve a diplomatic passport. According to Ola Michael, Wale’s penchant for insulting anyone who crosses his path, with or without any provocation, is enough to buttress his defiant posture.

He suggested that the other artistes Anne Sophie Avé proposed the diplomatic passports for deserve it but Wale doesn’t. The studio discussion was enacted at the latest edition of United Showbiz and was superintended by regular host MzGee, who expressed great surprise at Ola Michael’s submission.
