‘Stranger Things’ Star Grace Van Dien Speaks Out About Sexual Harassment On Set

Grace Van Dien, who portrayed Chrissy Cunningham in the fourth season of Stranger Things, has revealed that she is focusing on Twitch streaming rather than acting after an unnamed film producer asked for sexual favors.

Van Dien explained during a March 7 Twitch stream that she turned down four film roles in the past two and a half weeks and will be spending more time streaming. She claimed that the producer of her most recent film made her an unsuitable offer. She will focus on Twitch streaming for the foreseeable future due to the incident, which has caused her to decline acting roles.

“One of the last movies I did, one of the producers asked me to… like, he hired a girl that he was sleeping with and then he had her ask me to have a threesome with them. So… that’s my boss. And then I didn’t and I cried and I was so upset. But when people are like, ‘How is streaming better for your mental health?’ That’s how. I get to stay inside my house and play video games and I don’t have my boss asking me to have sex with them.”

In 2016, Van Dien began broadcasting video game playthroughs on Twitch under the moniker “BlueFille.” Within the first three months of launching her Twitch channel, she gained over 200,000 followers, and she currently has over 290,000 followers.

Despite taking a break from acting to focus on streaming, Van Dien says that streaming makes her happy and that she is currently working on her own film projects.

The abuse, exploitation, and harassment that are prevalent in Hollywood are highlighted by Van Dien’s revelation about the sexual misconduct she endured. Her decision to prioritize her mental health by selecting the individuals she interacts with and communicates with via streaming is commendable.
