Tiwa Savage Cancels All Shows After Contracting Virus

Tiwa Savage has regrettably announced the cancellation of all her upcoming shows due to her current health condition.

The renowned Nigerian artiste took to her official Instagram page to personally disclose this unfortunate news, including the postponement of her highly anticipated inaugural headline arena show in London.

Tiwa candidly shared that she is currently grappling with an undisclosed virus, which has prompted medical professionals to advise her to observe “strict vocal rest” for the foreseeable months.

While expressing her deep sorrow for disappointing her loyal fans, she emphasized the paramount importance of prioritizing her health in order to preserve her vocal abilities. We extend our well wishes to Tiwa Savage during this challenging time and hope for her swift recovery.

She wrote; “To my dear Soldiers, I’ve been fighting off a virus for the past few weeks and was today firmly instructed to be on strict vocal rest for the next few months.

“I will unfortunately have to postpone all performances including my first ever headline arena show in London.

“I’m heartbroken and devastated but I have to do this to save what’s left of my voice. I’m so sorry. I love you all and promise to be back performing once I’m fully healed.”

Tiwa Savage is a highly acclaimed Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress, widely recognized as the Queen of Afrobeats. With a versatile vocal range, Savage effortlessly sings in both English and Yoruba, showcasing her unique blend of afrobeats, R&B, afropop, pop, and hip-hop.

Throughout her career, Savage has made significant contributions to the Nigerian music industry, earning numerous achievements and accolades. Born in Isale Eko, she relocated to London at the age of 11 to pursue her secondary education.

It was during this time that she embarked on her musical journey, lending her exceptional vocal talents as a backup singer for renowned artists such as George Michael and Mary J. Blige. After gaining valuable experience and honing her skills, Savage’s talent caught the attention of the music industry.

She participated in the UK edition of The X Factor and later graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. In 2009, she signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, inspired by the remarkable growth of the Nigerian music industry. Driven by her passion for her homeland, Savage made the decision to return to Nigeria and signed with Mavin Records in 2012.

Continuing her success, Savage released her second studio album, R.E.D, on 19 December 2015. The album produced two popular singles, “My Darlin” and “Standing Ovation.” In June 2016, she signed a management and publishing deal with Roc Nation, further expanding her international reach and influence.

In September 2017, Savage released her debut EP Sugarcane, which received critical acclaim. Both R.E.D and Sugarcane have been nominated for Best Album at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards, solidifying Savage’s position as one of the industry’s most talented and influential artists.
