Former deputy general secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has advised former President John Dramani Mahama to avoid selecting Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC’s chairman, as his running mate.
Anyidoho took to Twitter, now referred to as X, to express his concerns about Asiedu Nketiah’s candidacy, calling him a dangerous individual whose campaign for the job would never materialize.
Anyidoho believes that if Mahama chooses Asiedu Nketia, the NDC will undoubtedly lose the next election. Anyidoho is optimistic that Mahama will not make the mistake of settling on the former general secretary of the party who is now the National Chairman.
In a series of tweets, Anyidoho dismissed Asiedu Nketia’s running mate ambitions, highlighting the political wrongness of such a decision.
“Asiedu-Nketiah has obviously become a heavy albatross around the neck of the NDC & lobbying for running mate shall NEVER materialize. There is NO WAY John.
“Let John Mahama make a HUGE political miscalculation again as he is wont to do and dare allow Mosquito to mislead him; and he will make ignoble history as the first one-term President to have lost 2 other elections in a disastrous manner,” he stated.
His comments comes after Mr Nketiah recently expressed his willingness to partner with the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama if he is selected as the running mate for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
Nketia stated that he will not actively seek the position but is prepared to embrace the challenge if chosen.
While the NDC has not yet made any official announcements regarding this matter, there have been numerous media reports speculating on potential candidates, with Asiedu Nketia’s name being mentioned recently.
And according to a publication from Serwaa Amihere on her Twitter timeline, as quoted by Agoo TV, Asiedu Nketia has expressed interest in the position again.
