I’ll Gladly Accept Mahama Running Mate Position – Asiedu Nketiah

The Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has expressed his willingness to partner with the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama if he is selected as the running mate for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.

Nketia, also known as General Mosquito, has stated that he will not actively seek the position but is prepared to embrace the challenge if chosen.

While the NDC has not yet made any official announcements regarding this matter, there have been numerous media reports speculating on potential candidates, with Asiedu Nketia’s name being mentioned recently.

And according to a publication from Serwaa Amihere on her Twitter timeline, as quoted by Agoo TV, Asiedu Nketia has expressed interest in the position again.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time he has made such a statement, as he previously expressed his openness to accepting the role if Mahama were to offer it to him prior to the 2020 elections.

Mr. Nketiah said: “I would gladly accept the offer if it comes.” He, however, stated that quality leadership skills, rather than knowledge in a specific field, is required to serve in appointed or elected offices.

Liking his example to the Finance Ministry, the NDC scribe said persons from other fields have manned affairs better than appointees with Accounting or Finance backgrounds.

“…[Yaw] Osafo-Marfo who also comes across as one of our best Finance Ministers is an engineer; so for people to narrowly think you have to be an expert in a particular field before you can perform…is wrong,” he said.
