Why Planned Move To Teach Agyinasare A Lesson Failed – Nogopko Spokesperson Speaks

The spokesperson for Nogokpo, Nufialagah Mawufemor Kobla Nornyigbey, claimed that if they had handled the Agyinasare-Nokogpo dispute their way, the region would have transformed into a highly desirable destination, attracting investors and a large number of people due to the abundance of opportunities available there.

He also made shocking accusations, saying that some of the chiefs who had gathered to summon Archbishop Agyinasare, the leader of Perez Chapel International, were bribed and therefore stopped speaking about the situation.

During an appearance on the Mama Grace show, Nufialagah Mawufemor disclosed that the initial well-meaning efforts to address the case involving Archbishop Agyinasare fell apart as a result of instances of bribery.

He revealed that after Archbishop Agyinasare was called to Nogokpo due to remarks he made characterizing the entire town as a “demonic headquarters,” a number of influential people contacted him with an offer of $100,000 as bribe.

“The way we wanted to handle this Agyinasare-Nokogpo issue, trust me, Nogokpo would have been a heaven where investors and a lot of people would have flocked with various opportunities. It got to a point with what I saw happening; I had to go live on Facebook to disassociate myself from the issue because people are looking up to me, and I don’t want anybody to tag me as going to take a bribe,” he said.

“I was already accused of taking bribes, and yes, people called me to make offers during the issue. I was promised 100,000 dollars to drop the issue, but for the love of the people, I declined. People have taken it, and I leave them to their conscience,” he added.

He continued by saying that pastors, politicians, and traditional leaders all tried to mediate, but the Nogopko community held firm until compromises were made. According to Nufialagah Mawufemor, the Volta Region’s Paramount Chief and President of the Some Traditional Council, Togbui Adamah III, initially supported the plan but later distanced himself from the press conference they held, leading him to believe that the chief had been bribed.

Due to their displeasure with statements labelling Nogokpo the Volta Region’s “demon headquarters,” the Chiefs of Nogokpo summoned Archbishop Charles Agyinasare in June 2023 and demanded he appear before them within 14 days.

Archbishop Agyinasare provided further clarification regarding his statement, emphasising that he harbours no ill will towards Nogokpo or its people. He clarified that his remarks were directed at a particular incident rather than the town as a whole.
