A 21-year-old father, identified as Bright, is currently in custody at the Awutu Bereku District Police Command for the alleged murder of his three-week-old baby.
The incident is suspected to be linked to money rituals, and it occurred in Fetteh Kakraba, Gomoa East District, Central Region.
According to reports, the tragic event unfolded on Monday night when Bright visited the baby and the mother. During this visit, Bright is said to have killed the infant, leading to his subsequent arrest.
The baby’s mother had reportedly left the child sleeping inside while she ran an errand. Bright, during the visit, asked a friend to bring the baby from the room, allegedly concealing his ulterior motives.
In an interview with Adom News, Bright’s friend, who unknowingly assisted in taking the baby out of the room, shared the sequence of events. The friend mentioned meeting Bright on the school park with the baby and later receiving a call from the mother reporting the child missing.
Upon receiving a tip-off, a search party was organized, and Bright’s friend was apprehended, suspected of involvement in the baby’s disappearance. The friend led the search party to the school park, where they discovered that Bright had already killed the baby.
Both Bright and his friend are now in custody, cooperating with ongoing investigations. The tragic incident has shocked the community, and authorities are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder for money rituals.
