Nana Akufo Addo has significantly enhanced Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s prospects of surpassing his closest competitor, John Dramani Mahama, by making a disparaging remark about the NDC flagbearer ahead of the 2024 elections.
The outgoing President of the Republic accused former President John Dramani Mahama of failing to deliver during his previous tenure as leader of the National Democratic Congress, yet now he is presenting himself as a harbinger of change.
He implored the Ghanaian populace not to re-elect John Dramani Mahama, as there is no substantiated evidence that the NDC flagbearer possesses innovative ideas on effective governance.
“John Mahama, despite having the chance, failed to deliver and was subsequently voted out. However, he has now reemerged as a transformed individual, seeking votes without any substantiated proof of his transformation.
“We won’t allow him to come back today or tomorrow because he and the NDC cannot do it,” Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said while addressing residents of Bantama in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana, emerged as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 election with 61.43% of valid votes cast on November 4, 2023.
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Assin Central MP, kept his promise of delivering a “showdown” by finishing in second place with 37.41%, while Francis Addai Nimoh and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto came in last and third, respectively.
