Arsenal Should Make Sure Partey Is Fit & They Can Win EPL – Alan Shearer

After Saturday’s thrilling comeback win over Aston Villa, Alan Shearer endorsed Arsenal to win the Premier League.

Shearer, who won the league with Blackburn in 1995, may help Arsenal win their first championship since 2004 as a result of the outcome at Villa.

‘I know Thomas Partey is out injured at the moment, but if Arsenal can get him back and then have a little bit of luck between now and the end of the season with keeping their key players fit, I think they will do it, I really do,’ he told Match of the Day.

‘Sometimes you just need to find a way to win and they did that in the second half. Based on the second half, Arsenal deserved the three points today. But they didn’t just get the win, they sent a message out to Manchester City too.’

Mikel Arteta’s team is currently two points ahead at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand after their rivals drew with Nottingham Forest. The Gunners’ title dreams had appeared to be on the line after City defeated them 3-1 in their most recent match.

Even though they weren’t at their best, Arsenal will benefit greatly from their victory on Saturday. It follows a challenging stretch in which they lost eight points in three games after only losing seven in their previous 19 games.

Speaking after the win, a jubilant Arteta said: ‘At some stage you’re going to have to win games in the 94th or 96th minute.

‘You’re going to have to score from set pieces, when you’re down to 10 men. Just win in any context — and we had a really difficult context. We showed the emotion and quality we needed, so I’m happy about that.

‘We showed a lot of resilience, character and quality. We had some difficulties in the first half, but after half-time we produced a very strong performance and we should have won it earlier.

Arsenal will next be in action when they face Leicester next Saturday.
