Atta Mills’ Name Pops Up In John Kumah’s Potential Autopsy Report

Former president John Fiifi Evans Atta Mills’ name has been dragged into the death of the late John Kumah, whose sad demise occurred on March 6.

This new development occurred following Hannah Bissiw demanding the New Patriotic Party (NPP) reveal the cause of John Kumah’s death or stop spreading rumours about Mills’ passing.

Bissiw, the Women Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), emphasized that, as a statesman, it is important to make the autopsy report of the former Deputy Minister public during an interview on Accra-based Onua FM.

“NPP should make us aware of what killed John Kumah. He is a statesman, and so his autopsy report must be made public.

Hannah Bissiw

If they are unable to tell us what killed John Kumah, then they should shut up about any other person. They told us Corona killed Sir John. A man who is 45 years old cannot just die like that. Several unresolved deaths in the NPP have not been made known.

We also want to know what killed the Deputy Minister and if they are unable to provide us with the autopsy then they should shut up about any other person’s death and leave the NDC to come and make the country better,” she charged.

John Kumah, the Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region died after a short illness on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

He had been present in Parliament earlier this week and was scheduled to contribute to the Budget debate on Thursday and Friday. However, he had visited his constituency, Ejisu, in the Ashanti Region, to celebrate the Independence anniversary.

Unfortunately, his health worsened during this time. An ambulance was called to transport him to Accra, but his condition became critical during the journey.

As a result, the ambulance diverted to the Suhum Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Thursday, March 7, 2024. His body has been taken to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

Mills on the other hand, died on July 24, 2012, at the age of 68, at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. The exact cause of his death was not immediately disclosed, but it was known that he had been battling throat cancer and had recently sought medical treatment in the US.

His office announced his death, stating that he fell ill shortly before his passing, while a presidential aide mentioned that he had experienced pain the day before.

However, during the graveside service, Mills’ brother, Dr. Cadman Mills, revealed that he had succumbed to complications from a severe hemorrhagic stroke caused by a brain aneurysm. The BBC reported that his voice had deteriorated in the months leading up to his death. Elizabeth Ohene, a former minister, admitted that due to previous false reports of his demise, she initially had doubts about the news of his actual passing.
