Bishop Ayensu Praises Akufo-Addo As He Uses Prostitutes As Case Study

In a recent statement, Bishop Stephen Bosomtwe Ayensu, the former Methodist Bishop of Obuasi Diocese, expressed his views on the performance of the current administration led by Nana Akufo-Addo.

The Bishop addressed the perception that men of God have refrained from denouncing the government’s faults, as they did under former President John Mahama.

Using the example of prostitutes, the Bishop highlighted the importance of speaking the truth. He stated that if “we were to speak the truth, we would see the indicators and the performance of the government.

“The outbreak of COVID-19 had a devastating impact, and its management had a significant impact on the country. Therefore, it is essential to look at records to understand what has happened. The Bishop acknowledged that Nana Addo did well until the outbreak of COVID-19. “

He emphasized the need to appreciate the challenges faced by the government and the efforts made to manage the pandemic. In conclusion, the Bishop’s statement provides a balanced perspective on the performance of the current administration and the impact of COVID-19 on the country.

He said even prostitutes had their payments reduced, but the Akufo-Addo government did not reduce the salaries of workers.

“Things became so difficult that even commercial sex workers had their payments reduced. However the government did not reduce the salaries and wages of workers. Those who did not even go to work were paid their salaries. We were provided with free water and electricity. From the perspective I am speaking from, I believe things were going well until the global crisis came in.”

He added that the president has admitted publicly that things were difficult and has assured us that he is working to address them.

During his appearance on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, he once again seized the opportunity to criticize Mahama. He expressed his belief that the current administration has performed better in comparison to the previous NDC government.

The host, Kwabena Agyapong, inquired about his approach of urging Ghanaians to be patient and offer prayers to support the government, instead of openly criticizing it as he did with Mahama. In a professional manner, he responded by stating the reasons behind his stance.
