CIB Revokes Venue Permission For Adongo’s Response Lecture To Bawumia

The highly anticipated lecture by Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, aimed at responding to Vice President and NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 70-point vision has been abruptly cancelled.

This decision comes in the wake of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) withdrawing their earlier permission for the event to be hosted on their premises under the auspices of the Coalition For Restoration (CFR).

According to CFR, which had organized the event, the purpose of the lecture was to address what they perceived as factual inaccuracies in Vice President Bawumia’s presentation.

In a statement announcing the cancellation, CFR revealed that the venue had been secured for the lecture, only for the managers of the facility to reverse their decision, citing political implications.

“The Coalition For Restoration, CFR had earlier advertised its intention to present Hon Isaac Adongo, MP for Bolgatanga Central and Ranking member of the finance committee of Parliament in a public lecture to respond to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, vice president and presidential candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). However, due to circumstances beyond our control, the lecture cannot be delivered as advertised on the said date,” the statement read.

The group further explained that the managers of the Chartered Institute of Bankers informed them that they were cancelling the booking for the venue due to their policy against hosting politically inclined events.

Despite CFR’s earlier assurances that the lecture would be non-partisan and solely focused on economic matters, the Institute cited concerns over the political nature of the event as the reason for the cancellation.

CFR expressed disappointment over the turn of events, especially after making full payment for the venue and receiving receipts. The group has thus apologized for any inconvenience caused to those anticipating the lecture.
