George Britton Speaks On Bisa K.Dei Doing Funeral Songs

Music executive and Artiste manager George Mensah Britton has slammed Ghanaians for downplaying Bisa KDei’s artistry despite his huge talent.

Britton clarified the facts during an interview on TV3 New Day with AJ Sarpong and Berla Mundi about funding musicians as well as the entertainment industry.

Despite being regarded as one of Ghana’s leading musical voices, Bisa Kdei has earned the moniker “funeral singer” due to its popularity, particularly with funeral attendees. Britton thinks the tag is inaccurate and demeaning of Bisa Kdei’s years of dedication and skill.

“One of the artists people really look down on in this country is Bisa Kdei. They tag him as a funeral singer but he is in a lot of top conversations. I mean a few days ago there was Grammy conversation and the only Ghanaian guy whose name was featured was Bisa Kdei,”.

Britton emphasized further that as long as they are prepared to put in the effort, every musician deserves the chance to represent Ghanaian music on a global scale.

“This person deserves it, and another doesn’t” should not exist when it comes to pushing an act internationally. Each person who sees music as a business and wants to take it upon themselves to do it right deserves to be pushed.

Bisa Kdei, whose real name is Roland Kwaku Appiah recently recounted how he and his team escaped a ghastly accident together with colleague Sista Afia on the Aburi road not too long ago.

Sharing the scary moment of his life on Hitz FM, Bisa Kdei asserted that he and his crew would have died if it weren’t for the prayers they offered to God at that precise moment shortly before the accident happened.

Apparently, two vehicles from ‘nowhere’ rammed into them shortly after they packed their cars and were praying by the roadside.

He was quoted as saying, “We were returning from Aburi, and something was telling me that we should pray constantly with my boys. We stopped by the wayside after I informed them that I felt like something was urging us to pray. I had only signed Sista Afia a few days before. Even Sista Afia was a member of the group.”

“So, after parking, we prayed together while holding hands, and fifteen minutes later, two automobiles plowed into us. It was terrible, and I initially believed that I had lost my voice. Although we were all hunched over with our necks locked, I sprung to my feet like a machine and hurried to check on my guys. Everyone was fine, but the cars were all mangled. It was wild.”
