Ghana’s Adu Safowaa Begins GWR Speech-A-Thon
Media personality Adu Safowaa has embarked on a remarkable endeavour to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest speech marathon.
Currently, the record stands at an impressive 90 hours and 2 minutes, achieved by Ananta Ram KC in Nepal back in 2018. Before his attempt, Ananta Ram KC observed a silence of nearly 7 days as part of his preparation.
On January 4, Adu Safowaa announced her official social media platforms, expressing her determination to break the Guinness World Record. However, many Ghanaians initially perceived it as a mere joke.
On her official Instagram page, Adu Safowaa shared an official flyer and provided a caption to accompany it. She wrote:
“Daybreak Africa! I am great for everything and please keep praying for me. Amen”.
The record-breaking feat is taking place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel from February 9 to 14, 2024.
During an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Twitter Spaces days ago to highlight this attempt, she revealed that her speech would focus on topics that highlight the progress and potential of Ghana and Africa.
“With the longest speech marathon, your topics are irrelevant to them. But whatever you say must mean something to the public. So I come as a public figure or a lecturer talking about issues in life.
I told them that I would talk about Africa, precisely Ghana. So if I take the Greater Accra Region, I am to tell them about their culture, what they are about, and what they believe in,” Adu said.
She also noted that she is allowed to use any language of her choice but in her case she will be using English, French and Twi.
Meanwhile, her bold attempt has attracted commendations from celebrities and fans.
Fashion critic Charlie Dior, among other Ghanaians, has reacted to Adu Safowaa’s speech-a-thon.
While many were motivating and wishing her all the best, others commented about her hairstyle.
Many do not understand why the controversial media personality would use this hairstyle for her speech-a-thon.
“This was me reciting poem in class 6 bald head and all”, Charlie Dior said.
“Sakora yi de3….3y3 akwankyr3 anaaa??? Is it direction from the prophets?????”, a netizen said.
“Forget this lady is so intelligent and beautiful, so some of you here can’t respect ur selves and support her without any criticism humm” another netizen wrote.
