GRA Announces Closure Of Four Businesses For Failure To Comply With Tax Regulation

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has shutdown four companies for their failure to honor their tax obligations.

Due to the companies’ inability to submit valid Value Added Tax (VAT) bills to the GRA, its compliance and enforcement unit took the drastic measure of closing them down.

The affected companies include Qingsong Trading Company Limited, Cup of Joy Ventures (grocery store), Eve’s Panties Wholesale, and Modern Floors Tiles Shop.

These businesses can be located in the Greater Accra Regional, specifically the Weija Gbawe Municipal District.

The GRA has specified that all vendors of taxable items, goods, or services must provide VAT invoices and that all buyers must receive VAT invoices from merchants before making any purchases.

Failure to adhere to the tax laws could lead to repercussions under sections 78 and 82 of the Revenue Administration Act, 2016 (Act 915), which deal with breaking tax laws and interfering with tax administration, respectively.

Every member of the public is advised to follow these rules and to report any suspected tax fraud to the GRA. The authorities will take appropriate action in response to such reports.
