He Could Travel to London, Go Shopping, And Bring it To Us- Keche Speaks Fondly Of Castro

Music duo Keche has paid a glowing tribute to Castro while fondly recalling how he nurtured and shaped their career in an interview on Joy Prime.

The two rappers and singers mentioned that Castro was instrumental in making them achieve mainstream success and even ascribe their stage name to them.

“He brought us here; he believed in us; he said, “Kaywa, Kaywa, I urge you nurture them… Castro could travel to London, go shopping, and bring it to us,” they said during the interview.

They also touched on circumstances leading to his death via drowning, stressing the news came as a huge shock to them because they knew the late Hiplife star was a good swimmer.

“Later we heard that he had a call and he told his brother to take the lead and go to Kumasi, then he will join them later,” Keche Andrew recalled. “So I was in the room in the afternoon when I got a call that Castro had drowned.”

He said, “I know Castro is an excellent swimmer; he just got back from Sekondi, and I heard he was wearing a vest, so it is doubtful he could have drowned.”

“I’m not sure he made it to the estuary, and the local authorities won’t even let you get that far, so I’m just going by what people are saying, but I won’t believe it until I see his body,” he said.

On 6 July 2014, Castro, whose real name is Theophilus Tagoe disappeared with Miss Janet Bandu at the Ada Estuary while on holiday with the Gyan brothers and friends.

Castro and Miss Janet Bandu were reported to have drowned following a jet ski accident at Ada Estuary. While the jet ski involved in the accident was recovered on the same day of their disappearance, their bodies were not, despite a search by the police. The pair remain missing to date.
