I Did Not Kill Him- Naira Marley Breaks Silence On Mohbad’s Death

Naira Marley has finally spoken about his protege Mohbad’s death and absolved himself of any connection with his passing.

He told social media influencer, lawyer and author Reno Omokri that he has no hands in the death of Mohbad as people are widely speculating. When Reno asked if he played a part in Mohbad’s death, Naira said: “No, definitely not.”

He added:

“I’ve been out of Nigeria from the 31st of August. I’ve been with my family up to date. I haven’t been to Nigeria. He’s left Marlian music since. We have not stopped him from dropping music or anything… So when I heard about his death it was shocking to me. I was out of the country as well. If you’re blaming me, how did I kill him? I have nothing to do with his death whatsoever. I was so hurt when I heard myself.”

Because of the unanimous perception that Naira Marley has something to do with Mohbad, his music was prohibited from being played on Splash FM 105.5 in Ibadan, Oyo State, due to the ongoing inquiry into the strange death of Mohbad, a previous label signee.

This information was revealed in a post that one of the radio station’s hosts, Aderonke Adesola, made on X (formerly Twitter). The management of Splash FM explained the suspension in an internal memo by citing the ongoing police investigation into Mohbad’s death.

The memo urged staff members to exercise discretion due to the sensitive nature of Mohbad’s death and the criminal investigation. It stated that Naira Marley’s songs are now classified as “Not to be Broadcast” on their station until further notice, effective immediately.

The post read, “Good evening team. In view of the sensitive nature of the death of Mohbad and the criminal procedure, the police have commenced, I will urge us all to exercise discretion.

“To this effect, Naira Marley’s songs have become NTBB ( not to be broadcast) on our station till further notice. This is with immediate effect. Thank you.”

Additionally, a petition to ban Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, received over 50,000 signatures a firtnight ago. This is because people believe Marlian Music is a drug syndicate disguised as a record label.

Following the passing of former Marlian Music performer Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, well known as Mohbad, the petition was started on change.org.

The signee said that his previous employer Naira Marley and some of his faithful boys had threatened his life months before his untimely death. Even though the police claim to be looking into the rapper’s death, incensed followers have started an online petition.

Alongside some uploaded pictures of Naira Marley with his artistes, the campaigners stated that “it could be seen in a trending case of ex-signee Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad/Imole; how his life was cut short, how his fundamental rights as a human being were trampled upon just before his demise.
