I Quit Smoking Marijuana Yet Cops Regularly Search Me – Kwaw Kese

Ghanaian Rapper, Kwaw Kese, has complained about the constant pestering he suffers at the hands of police due to his previous case involving the use of marijuana.

Police in Kumasi detained Kwaw Kese for openly smoking marijuana. On April 23, 2015, he was prosecuted for possession of marijuana, found guilty, fined GHS, 1200, and sentenced to one day in prison.

The rapper made these comments in an interview with Accra FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo broadcast on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

“As of now, the cops spot me and stop me to search for cannabis. It occurred again. The cops stopped me and my Uber driver in the Trassaco neighborhood. As soon as they learned I was in the backseat, they requested me to get out for a search,” he said.

“I have even quit smoking pot but they want to discover marijuana on me for a court case, and throw me back in jail.”

In recounting the pain of that past experience, Kwaw Kese said, “I’ am a citizen of Ghana, but when they found me smoking pot, they threw me in prison, but when a Jamaican came to Ghana and was smoking in public all over the place, the police, equipped with firearms, were guarding him as he smoked in the midst of Ghanaians. I still feel sad whenever I think of that situation.”

Kwaw Kese wondered how the police in Ghana operates.

According to him, he can’t tell whether the police service is there to help or hurt the citizens of Ghana.
