I Thought Davido Hated Me—Omah Lay

Omah Lay has shared in a new post on Twitter, now called X, that he previously believed Davido hated him.

This revelation came after Davido was seen promoting Omah Lay’s music while driving around Lagos with American content creator Kai Cenat in a new video shared online.

Omah Lay took to Twitter to express his appreciation for Davido’s support and to admit his misconceptions about their relationship.

On his X handle on Tuesday, Omah Lay wrote: “I’ve always thought OBO [Davido] hated me!”

Davido’s recent public endorsement of Omah Lay’s music marks a significant milestone. Moreover, among the emerging Nigerian artists, the talented singer from Port Harcourt stands out as one of the few who have yet to collaborate with Davido.

Omah Lay surprised his fans and music enthusiasts by announcing on his Instagram story on Saturday, February 17, 2024, that he will be taking a break from making music.

He did not give any specific reason for his sudden decision but mentioned in a separate post that he needs more love. “I am not giving you new music anytime soon, Omah Lay wrote.

Similarly, in a recent interview with The Beat FM in London, UK, the Soso hitmaker expressed that he is unconcerned with the labels given to his music as long as his fans are enjoying it. He also mentioned that he respects the opinions of his fans and would never argue with them.

Omah Lay said, “I just make my music how I want to make my music. I try as much as possible to stay away from titles and everything the world is trying to put on you. Because as my guy would always say, ‘When the smokes clear, then you see clearly.

“So when you identify with those things [titles and tags] it just… I just make my music, I don’t care what anybody wants to tag it to enjoy it as long as you enjoy the music. If you feel like it’s Afro-depression, I am okay with that as long as you enjoy the music. Some other people would dance to it.
