Invest Monies Spent On Football In Musicians – Lyrical Joe Urges Government

Renowned rapper Lyrical Joe, born Joseph Gamor, has urged the Ghanaian government to redirect the substantial funds allocated to football towards supporting local musicians.

In a conversation with Cape Coast-based Radio Presenter Amansan Krakye, Lyrical Joe emphasized the potential for Ghanaian artists to make a significant global impact if they were granted equivalent financial backing to that invested in football.

Expressing confidence in the ability of Ghanaian musicians to win prestigious awards such as the Grammys, Lyrical Joe highlighted the evident impact that increased financial resources could have on the music industry.

The rapper pointed out a perceived discrepancy in government spending, noting that while substantial amounts are earmarked for football, a comparable investment is lacking in the music sector.

Lyrical Joe suggested that the emotional attachment of Ghanaians to football, particularly the disappointment experienced when the Black Stars face defeat, is closely tied to the significant government funding dedicated to the sport.

“The amount that is spent by the government on football to sponsor all these things, the same amount is not spent by the government on music. Maybe the musicians themselves spend that amount on their music, but the government doesn’t spend that colossal amount on us,” revealed Lyrical Joe.

He emphasized that the impact of such financial support extends beyond individual artists, asserting that the country and its people would experience a real emotional and cultural impact.

Lyrical Joe urged the government to consider the substantial investment in football and its potential redirection as a means to foster the growth and global recognition of the Ghanaian music industry.
