It’s Only In Ghana That Female Artistes Don’t Headline Concerts—Wiyaala

Wiyaala has expressed her disappointment in the fact that female artistes in Ghana are never allowed to headline concerts, regardless of their popularity.

She believes that women entertainers have been marginalized for a significant period, but she is determined not to tolerate such disrespect.

During an interview with 3News, she discussed her recent outburst regarding her image being placed on a flyer for a concert in December last year.

Recall that Tru News Report shared last year that Wiyaala criticised an event organizer for placing her image at the back of a promotional flyer, behind her male colleagues, for an upcoming concert at the Royal Cosy Hills Safari Resort.

While the flyer featured the headliners of the event, including Samini, Kuame Eugene, Fancy Gadam, and Wiyaala, she expressed her dissatisfaction with the way her image was presented and arranged.

She believed that this placement diminished her importance and undermined her brand.

Wiyaala wanted to emphasize that she is not an up-and-coming artiste and should not be treated as such. Here’s what she posted, as sighted by Tru News Report:

Honestly I AM NOT happy with this poster circulating on social media. Place my image in the right position OR I AM OUT! I AM NOT A BACK UP ARTIST

In this new interview she had with AJ Sarpong on 3FM Lounge, the singer reinforced her stance and how women are treated in this country.

“I know what I can do and if anybody pretends not to give me my flowers, I will take it by force now.

I am not going to allow that. You want something and we agreed on something, place me in the position that I truly deserve. I am not going to be treated like some [upcoming artiste].

“If you place me behind like that, we all know what it means. I am not some upcoming artiste. I am going to be behind Samini any day but for my two brothers they have to let me introduce them,’ she said.
