John Mahama Picks Form To Contest NDC Flag Flagbearership Position

The former president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has picked his nomination forms to run for the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) flagbearership position.

That announcement came less than 24 hours after he announced his desire to run for president in the upcoming 2024 general election under the opposition National Democratic Congress’s party (NDC). In a Tuesday meeting with the Parliamentary Minority Caucus, the ex-President revealed this information.

The members went to Mr. Mahama’s office to tell him that if he announces his candidacy for flagbearer, they will support him. At the meeting, the former President told the members that he would run for president again, and he also said that he would soon make the news public.

Together with the national chairmen of several regions, former president’s representative Joshua Alabi picked up the forms early Wednesday morning. As payment for the nomination form, Joshua Alabi gave a check for GHC 30,000, which was the fee for the nomination form. He will have to pay a fee of GHC 500,000 to file.

On May 13 polls will open in several parts of the country this comes after many Ghanaians voiced their dissatisfaction with the administration for its poor handling of the country’s economy.

After filling in as president for six months after John Evans Atta Mills’s death, John Mahama ran for office in 2012. He was elected president and stayed in office for four years. However, in 2016, President Akufo-Adda of the NPP removed him from office.
