Kennedy Agyapong’s Daughter, Amanda Shares Grass-To-Grace Story Of Her Father

Amanda Agyapong, daughter of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has shared a heartfelt video on TikTok, recounting the remarkable journey of the Assin Central Member of Parliament and defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer-hopeful.

In the emotional video, Amanda sheds light on her father’s humble beginnings and his relentless pursuit of success, even taking on various menial jobs to forge a path in life.

Eventually, he found himself in the United States, where he continued to strive until he achieved great heights.

Despite his recent defeat in the NPP primaries, Amanda emphasizes that her father’s story as both a successful politician and businessman remains an inspiration to all. She expresses immense pride in his courageous attempt to become the NPP flagbearer, recognizing the significance of his aspirations.

“This man grew up in a village in Ghana with quite literally nothing; had no electricity going, and didn’t have his first pair of shoes until I think the age of 16.

“Was having to sell gum, razor, to help put himself through school, to help put his siblings through school, to help his parents out. He ended up coming to America, becoming a taxi cab driver, a gas station attendant, and working at a bakery. All at the same time put himself through school. Was also at one point a dishwasher and a chef,” she stated.

“From media company, refrigeration, real estate; now has over seven thousand employees. He’s been a Member of Parliament for over 20 years. The second longest-running member of parliament in Ghanaian history and then stood up to also run to be the candidate for his party. Awe-inspiring.

“I’ve never been more proud or inspired in my life by this man, Kennedy Ohene Akompreko Agyapong,” he said in a video shared via social media.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana, emerged as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 election with 61.43% of valid votes cast on November 4, 2023.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Assin Central MP, kept his promise of delivering a “showdown” by finishing second place with 37.41%, while Francis Addai Nimoh and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto came in last and third , respectively.

The Ghanaian public is now eagerly awaiting Bawumia’s choice of running mate to face John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming presidential elections, as the selection of a suitable partner can significantly impact a candidate’s chances of success.
