Lasmid Admits That His VGMA Performance Was A Disaster

Lasmid, whose real name is Nathaniel Owusu, has addressed the public about his poor performance at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

During an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, he disclosed that the negative response he received at his VGMA debut had a profound effect on him. He expressed his regret and sadness, saying that the show left him feeling terrible.

“We rehearsed and expected the performance to be as beautiful as we rehearsed it. But I feel like we didn’t prepare for that to happen. We prepared for better things… I was mad at myself after the show because I thought I was doing my best, just that it didn’t come out as planned. I heard myself through one monitor on stage and realised what we wanted was not what we got”, he said.

Lasmid had a hard time pointing to a single reason why the bad performance happened when asked about the different things that could have caused it. He explained that his hard-working team had prepared for the show and even practised it beforehand, but that on the night of the performance, everything went wrong.

Numerous fans expressed their dissatisfaction with his performance, which received widespread criticism. Lasmid, reflecting on his VGMA performance, vowed to keep getting better and to keep giving his fans the kinds of shows they deserve. He agreed that challenges like this might be used as teaching opportunities and motivation to achieve better outcomes in the future.
