Maid, Six Others Involved In Cecilia Dapaah’s ‘Cash Gate’ Arrested Again On 31 New Charges

The domestic worker, Patience Botwe, previously employed by former Minister for Sanitation, Cecilia Dapaah, along with six other individuals, have been arrested once again and charged with 31 new counts of crime by state prosecutors following the withdrawal of the initial charge sheet at the Circuit Court.

A video posted on X by @StarrFM shows Patience Botwe and others being escorted out of the courthouse, though the specifics of the new charges against them have not yet been made public.

It was alleged that 18-year-old Patience Botwe and 30-year-old Sarah Agyei stole $1 million, €300,000, and thousands of Ghana cedis, in addition to clothing and jewels valued at over GH$100,000. Two housekeepers and three other suspects were sent to a circuit court in Accra to face charges.

On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, police prosecutor DSP Emmanuel Nyamekye revealed new information in court. Five people, including two of the former Minister’s housekeepers, were arrested on charges of stealing one million dollars, 300,000 euros, and thousands of Ghanaian cedis.

Since July 6, 2023, they have been presented before the Circuit Court during the ongoing investigative proceedings.

John Dumelo waded in on the issue, stating what he could do with even a small amount of her money after seeing how she made news by causing the arrest of her housekeeper and others. He said he would have expanded his onion and tomato farm if given the chance to do so.
