Sammy Gyamfi Raises Alarm Over Alleged Attempt By Attorney General To Cover Up Cecilia Dapaah’s case

The National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, said that the recent revelations made by the wife of the deceased brother of Cecilia Dapaah have brought to light the Attorney-General’s alleged attempt to cover up the scandal.

This comes after Madam Irene Kensah denied knowledge of a supposed $800,000 which belonged to her late husband and was part the $1 million stolen from the residence of the former Sanitation Minister.

In an interview with Sompa FM broadcast on Friday, August 4th, Madam Kensah stated that her late husband had never brought up the topic of money.

“I know nothing about that money. I heard about it just like all of you did. I was on my way to meet my lawyer about a letter of administration, and the issue only came up when I was with him… So after my lawyer became aware, it has now become apparent that the money needs to be retrieved,” she added.

However, the viewpoints of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice stand in complete opposition to this new information.

In his advice to the police, the AG stated that the police committed an error by attributing the entire $1 million to Cecilia Dapaah because a portion of it belonged to her deceased brother.

In light of Madam Kensah’s interview, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi has subsequently called out the A-G.

Mr. Gyamfi tweeted on Saturday, August 5, “The latest revelation by the wife of the deceased brother of Cecilia Dapaah is the smoking gun that shows clearly that the AG’s advice on the Cecilia Dapaah scandal is contrived and an unintelligent attempt to cover up the true facts of the case, which has outraged the entire nation.”

According to reports, between July and October of 2022, the former minister of sanitation had millions of dollars stolen from her Abelemkpe residence by her housekeepers. The minister has resigned as a result of the scandal.

On Wednesday, August 2, police prosecutor DSP Emmanuel Nyamekye revealed the new information in court. Five people, including two of the former Minister’s housekeepers, have been arrested on charges of stealing worth one million dollars, 300,000 euros, and thousands of Ghanaian cedis.
