Mark Zuckerberg Following In The Footsteps Of Elon Musk; Introduces Similar Subscription Plan For Facebook Verification

Mark Zuckerberg is following in the footsteps of Elon Musk by introducing a subscription plan that will let users be official and legitimate on his platforms.

The head of Meta announced that the social media company will roll out a new verification program soon. He writes, “Good morning and new product announcement: this week we’re starting to roll out Meta Verified, a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support.”

“This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services. Meta Verified starts at $11.99 / month on web or $14.99 / month on iOS. We’ll be rolling out in Australia and New Zealand this week and more countries soon,” Mark adds.

For those concerned that Facebook and Instagram will suffer the same problems that Twitter has since the launch of Twitter Blue, namely fake accounts and impersonators, Meta says that has already been considered and that they will take active steps to combat imposters and jokesters.

Prior to handing out any blue checkmarks to the normies, they plan on requiring individuals to submit government-issued identification to help match them to their own profiles. Meta also states that they will be actively monitoring for bogus accounts.

Mark and his team say they will keep the verified status of all public figures who have already been verified. This is different from Elon Musk, who wants to get rid of all legacy blue checks and charge $8.

From what is depicted in the above tweet, Tru News Report infers that Elon has gotten this news and seems to be rolling his eyes. In response, he simply replied, “Inevitable,” and reacted to some memes about it too.
