Mr Eazi Drops Long-Awaited Album ‘The Evil Genius’

Afropop superstar Mr Eazi has released his long-awaited fourth body of work, “The Evil Genius,” via his own emPawa Africa imprint.

The album, which was released on October 27, 2023, features 16 tracks and has been available for pre-order for close to 3 months now. The album is a blend of rhythms from Mr Eazi’s hometown in Nigeria, with hypnotic beats and catchy lyrics. The album was recorded over a two-year period in various locations, including Benin, Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, London, Los Angeles, and New York City. 

The album features some of Mr Eazi’s most personal work, as he dives deeply into subjects like love, s3x, betrayal, loneliness, and family. Mr Eazi personally handpicked 13 artistes, representing eight African countries, to collaborate on the album.

The album also includes collaborations with a diverse array of artists, such as Angelique Kidjo, Tekno, Efya, Whoisakin, Soweto Gospel Choir, and label signee Joeboy.

The artworks created for the album were featured in a multi-sensory exhibition experience that debuted in Accra, Ghana, before heading to the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair at Somerset House in London.

The artiste made a revelation in an interview on ‘Way Up with Angela Yee’, saying that “this is the most personal music I have made in my life.”

“On this album, it was the first time I realised music could be therapy to myself.”

Overall, “The Evil Genius” is a must-listen for fans of Mr Eazi and Afrobeats music. The album showcases Mr Eazi’s unique style and talent and is a testament to his dedication to his craft.
