My Family Never Put Pressure On Us To Play Football – Jordan Ayew

Black Stars forward, Jordan Pierre Ayew stated that, despite coming from a family of football players, he made the decision to pursue football on his own.

He claims that up until he was about ten years old, he always preferred to spend his time playing with friends rather than training.

In an exclusive interview on GTV Sports+ on Monday, July 3, Jordan said, “When I began playing, I wasn’t too interested in the game. I was just interested in playing with my friends in the area and didn’t like to training that much. I started going to training gradually at the age of 10 to 12, and from there everything started.”

He counts himself lucky to come from the Ayew family, as he says he and his siblings were never pressured to become football players. The Ghanaian striker and Crystal Palace forward asserted that he was fortunate to be born into a family of football players and that he believes that God determines one’s destiny.

He said, “I’m very lucky to have come from the Ayew family. They’ve never put pressure on us to play football, and obviously, when you come from a family of footballers, automatically you have to give yourself a chance. Aside from that, your destiny is your destiny. It is what God has written for us, and we’re privileged and really proud.”

Jordan Ayew is the younger brother of Andre Ayew who plays for Nottingham Forest. They are both the sons of Maha Ayew and Abedi Pele. Jordan’s father, uncles Kwame and Sola, and brother Rahim played football at the professional level. Ayew is a practising Muslim. He is married to Denise Acquah and they have two children.
