NDC Moves Presidential And Parliamentary Primaries To May 13

On May 13, 2023, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), will elect a presidential candidate and parliamentary reps for the 2024 election.

The party had initially announced May 6, but it appears there was no consensus on that date as the new General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey rejected the date.

According to the new timetable released by the party on Wednesday, January 18, interested individuals are to pick up nomination forms from the headquarters or its website.

Filing of nominations will take place between Wednesday, February 22 to Friday, February 24.

The submission and filing of forms would also take place from Monday, March 20, 2023, to Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Picking up of forms will begin from Monday 22nd to 24th of February 2023 on the party’s website at a fee of GH¢5,000, and submission at a fee of GH¢40,000 from March 20 to March 22.

Vetting of aspirants will follow from 27th to 29th March.

Aspirants are expected to pick up forms from the party’s head office from the 22nd to 24th of February.

The submission of forms starts from the 20th to 22nd March, 2023.

Vetting of the Presidential aspirants will also take place from 27th to 29th March.

The fee for picking up forms is pegged at GH¢30,000, while the filing fee is GH¢500,000.

But for women and persons living with disabilities, they’re to pay 50% of all charges should they decide to pick up forms to contest.

Speaking at a news conference in Accra, the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, said the elections for both the presidential and parliamentary will take place in all constituencies.
