Sarkodie Is Not My Friend- Samini Bares It All In Fresh Interview

Samini has categorically stated that Sarkodie is not his friend but that notwithstanding, he always makes sure he maintains a healthy professional relationship with him.

The evergreen dancehall and reggae specialist sat down with ace radio personality and rapper Andy Dosty and clarified why he went off on Sarkodie on Twitter and in a radio interview a few months ago. Samini explained that anytime his younger colleague wanted a collab from him, he was always there for him, but he (Sarkodie) never reciprocated the gesture when he (Samini) needed him.

In his words, the basis of their recent feud was when he reached out to Sarkodie and asked for a feature, but he never minded. Samini said he was peeved with the fact that the revered rapper failed to even reach out to him and explained why the collab was taking so long to be effected from his end but completely ignored him.

Samini added that he had worked with Sarkodie on three major projects initiated by Sark and in all those instances, he delivered his verse to him in less than 24 hours. Samini said this annoyed him to the core because when a social media user misinformed the public about the seeming bad blood between them, he had no action other than to set the record straight, culminating in his fiery salvos aimed at Sarkodie.

Back in January, the lid on the feud was set in motion when Samini took to Twitter to publicly criticize his colleague for his perceived pride and arrogance after he refused to reply to his WhatsApp messages. Samini stated that Sarkodie is the type of person who only reaches out when he needs something, but disappears when the tables are turned.

Samini vowed never to collaborate with Sarkodie again due to his repeated disappointments and lack of respect. Furthermore, Samini disclosed that he would decline any requests for his services from Sarkodie’s team due to the rapper’s disrespectful behaviour.

During an interview with Andy Dosty, Sarkodie apologized for his lack of response to Samini’s messages, although he claimed it was not intentional. Samini was also invited to share his perspective on the matter, where he referred to Sarkodie as his “small boy” in the industry. Samini boasted that he was a global brand before Sarkodie’s emergence, implying that he has more experience and seniority in the music industry.

In a phone-in session with Andy Dosty Samini said,

“If you message him, it will take him forever to respond and Kwaw Kese even said it earlier. So, I concluded that that is how he is. He is not my friend like that and he can attest to it. I did everything he asked me to do on time and I expect that my principle towards work is that you should let me know whether you can or cannot.

“Sarkodie did not try for me. He did not try for me and he knows it. Sark you are my small boy. Sark was one one the boys who said in his raps that he wanted to blow up and become like Samini. Ask him. My guy, don’t play,” he fumed

Narrating how his feud with Sarkodie began, Samini added,

“This whole thing started on Twitter last night when I asked fans to ask me questions, they would want me to answer. One of them came with the question about whether or not I will work again with Sark. So I said point blank that I don’t think I’ll need a verse from Sark and if he ever does need one, I’m not going to ever do it. I know the person is a Sark and a Samini fan and want to see us collaborate. I have a few instances where Sark has disrespected me but I didn’t bring it in public. But how Sark fans have risen on Twitter and disrespecting me is crazy. At 41, I don’t have to let anyone feel special in their corner. When Sark sent love rocks, I did it under 24 hours and sent it to him.

“Another time, he sent another when I was in South Africa, I did it and sent him the verse. When he sends me a WhatsApp message, it doesn’t takes me more than five minutes to respond. Because I did more than one features for him and he decided to put one out, I felt he could also return a favour so I hit him up over a song. I sent him three songs and he chose one. I told him it’s the last single on the EP. We spoke in April and I was supposed to release the song in May. that was the last time I heard from him and anytime I send him a message, there’s a blue tick,” he added.
